LAHORE:
A tough competition is expected between Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Tahreek-i-Insaf (PTI) candidates in union council no212 – that includes Allama Iqbal Town’s Muslim, Huma, Zeenat, Nargis and Badar blocks.

Speaking to The Express Tribune, several voters of the UC mentioned unlit streets, poor quality of piped water and lack of public hygiene as major problems in their areas.

However, PML-N candidate Rana Akhtar, who is contesting his first election, says his party has already addressed several major problems in the area. PTI candidate Mian Shakeel Ahmad rejects Akhtar’s claims. He says the sewerage system in the area is in a poor state. During monsoon seasons, all roads in the UC turn into ponds, he says.
