Investigations: Two teams formed to investigate Jacobabad bombing

The committees will also get assistance from the forensic division of the Sindh police

Sindh IG Ghulam Hyder Jamali has constituted two different teams to investigate the deadly blast in Jacobabad.


Over two dozen people were killed and several others were wounded when a suicide bomber blew himself up in a procession on Muharram 9.

Though there was no major breakthrough about the deadly attack, the Sindh IG has formed two committees, a high-level investigation team and a fact-finding committee, to ascertain the causes of the deadly blast.

The Sindh police spokesperson said that the high-level investigation committee will be led by Sindh Counter-Terrorism Department Additional IG Dr Sanaullah Abbasi while the fact-finding committee will be led by DIG Larkana and comprises Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) officers from Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Larkana and SSP Special Branch. The committees will also get assistance from the forensic division of the Sindh police.

Meanwhile, on the instructions of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) staff provided care and support to the survivors of the Jacobabad bomb blast. A total 32 injured were brought to PAF Hospital, Shahbaz, and were provided necessary medical treatment. In coordination with the Sindh government, 11 critically injured patients were airlifted by PAF C-130 aircraft for Karachi and were handed over to the local administration, said a statement issued by the PAF.
