KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has directed the Rangers law officer to submit his reply on a petition against the detention of a doctor of Ziauddin Hospital, allegedly by the personnel of law enforcement agencies.

A division bench passed this directive while hearing a petition filed by the doctor's wife, who had taken the paramilitary force and the police high-ups to court over the alleged unlawful detention of her husband.

The petitioner, Rubina Yousuf, informed the judges that her husband, Dr Yousuf Sattar, works at Ziauddin Hospital. She alleged that Rangers personnel came to the health facility on August 29 and took her husband away without disclosing any reason. Her lawyer, Shahab Sarki, also produced a CD of a closed-circuit camera, which showed the detainee being taken away by persons wearing Rangers uniforms.

The judges directed the law officer to verify the video footage and produce a report by November 19.
