LAHORE:
In an industry where the established enjoy clout over novices, one newbie has steadily worked her way from modelling to acting. Farwa Kazmi, who broke into the modelling scene two years ago, is now making her acting debut with television drama serial Tera Mera Rishta.

“I never thought I could act but was asked to consider this role so I auditioned and decided to give it a shot,” she said. The Islamabad-based model laments that her hometown is the reason for her missing out on many opportunities in the industry. “People want someone who is readily available and I also have accommodation problems sometimes, so I miss out on important projects,” she stated.

But as luck would have it, her latest project is being shot in the capital. Of her character, she shared, “I play the lead role of a girl who is happy-go-lucky but encounters life-changing experiences due to which her personality undergoes a complete change.” She added, “The drama serial is about her constant struggle between what she used to be and what she has turned into.”

Taking fashion one step at a time

With the shooting halfway done, the show is expected to air this December or January next year. Directed by Ali Faizan Anchan, Tera Mera Rishta features Farwa, Shahzad Noor, Abdullah Ejaz, Naila Jaffery and Tauqeer Nasir in prominent roles. She has also been contemplating working in a film, while looking forward to participating in upcoming fashion weeks.

Farwa has walked the ramp at major fashion weeks, including Bridal Couture Week, Fashion Pakistan Week, PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week and PFDC L’Oréal Bridal Week and has done shoots for Gul Ahmed, Élan, Khaadi and Nishat Linen.

Following a portfolio shoot with Khawar Riaz, Farwa first walked the ramp at PLBW 2013, which is where designer dynamos Kamiar Rokni and Rehan Bashir discovered her, with the latter referring to her as his ‘muse’.

The slow and steady in the fashion race

Of her modelling highlights, she’s quick to mention her affiliation with The House of Kamiar Rokni and how doing a shoot for helped her become a known face in the industry. She also showcased the fashion house’s finale outfit at PLBW 2015.
