LAHORE:

As National Accountability Bureau (NAB) authorised inquiries against Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders, the party’s co-chairman, Asif Ali Zardari, termed the decision a new chapter of ‘a party-specific accountability’.

NAB on Wednesday approved probes against former Sindh education minister Pir Mazharul Haq, ex-federal communication Minister Dr Arbab Alamgir Khan, and former MNA Asma Alamgir

Zardari in a statement said now only the PPP would be held accountable since all the other parties were beyond NAB’s jurisdiction and that everything else in the country was fine. He warned that this could have dangerous implications.

Reacting to the decision to initiate inquiries against PPP members, Zardari NAB ought to close its offices and shift into the PPP Secretariat since Wednesday's decision effectively meant 'one-party accountability'.
