PSO official remanded in graft case
The FIA presented the suspect before the court of South district’s judicial magistrate, Noor Muhammad Kalmati Baloch
KARACHI:
A district and sessions court on Wednesday remanded a senior official of the state owned Pakistan State Oil (PSO) to the FIA in five-day custody.
The FIA had arrested one of the PSO senior managers, Naved Alam Zubairi, in a raid at his office for allegedly misappropriating funds amounting to millions of rupees.

The FIR says that Zubairi – in his official capacity as the managing director of Asian Petroleum Limited (APL), an associated company of PSO with a holding of 49 per cent of shares – embezzled huge amounts from 2005 and 2009 through fake projects and bogus bills.
The FIA presented the suspect before the court of South district’s judicial magistrate, Noor Muhammad Kalmati Baloch, as the investigating officer Inspector Fasihuddin sought his custody for questioning on the ground that he was nominated in a case registered following an inquiry initiated in 2013.
