Four suspected militants killed in Swabi police encounter

District police officer says 35 suspects were arrested during search operation in surrounding areas

At least four militants were killed on Wednesday in a police encounter in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Swabi district.

“During an intelligence-based raid at Ajmeer Mountain near Mainia Town, militants opened fire on the police, prompting retaliatory fire from the police which lasted for around half an hour,” District Police Officer (DPO) Javed Iqbal Marwat told The Express Tribune.

Four militants were killed while others managed to escape, the police official said, claiming that at least 20 militants were hiding in the mountains.


The bodies were later shifted to Civil Hospital Topi, where they were identified as Hazrat Bilal, Mohammad Zeb and Abbass. Abbas is believed to be a resident of Swabi district, Zeb of Mohmand Agency, while the other two are from Peshawar.

Further, police carried out a search operation in the surrounding areas and arrested 35 suspects who are being interrogated, the DPO said.
