Services tax: ‘PRA not imposing new taxes’
Sales tax on services was earlier collected by the FBR
FAISALABAD:
Notices issued by the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) to already registered institutions with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) would be withdrawn, while actions against unregistered persons will continue as per the law, said PRA Commissioner Imran Hayee.
“Sales tax on services was earlier collected by the FBR, but after the 18th Amendment, its recovery was devolved to the provinces, and as a result, the PRA was constituted in 2012,” he said, while talking to The Express Tribune.
He said the PRA was not imposing any new taxes, and it was only the collecting agency that had been changed.
He admitted, however, that there were differences between rates of tax collected by the FBR and the PRA.
