KARACHI:

An anti-terrorism court handed down on Tuesday a jail term of 10 years to a gangster for attacking paramilitary soldiers with the intent to kill them.

Abdullah, associated with a notorious gang operating in Lyari, was convicted along with his 10 absconding accomplices in a year-old case of opening fire at Rangers personnel in Kalakot.

The ATC-X judge, Abdullah Afzal Khan, also convicted the absconders in absentia, observing that they escaped trial out of fear of being punished.

They were awarded five years imprisonment each.
