Follow up: Court rejects police report on Kasur scandal
The police had brought 20 suspects to the court amid tight security
LAHORE:
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday rejected the police report for discharging four suspects in Kasur child abuse scandal. The police had brought 20 suspects to the court amid tight security. The investigation officer submitted a report to Judge Khawaja Zafar Iqbal and requested him to discharge four suspects: Faizan, Aleem, Waseem and Ramazan. “They have been found innocent during investigation,” he said. He said that the final challan was under review at the prosecution department and would be submitted in the court soon. The judge expressed his displeasure, observing that only the court could decide whether a suspect was guilty or innocent. “How can the police declare a suspect innocent?” he asked. Judge Iqbal rejected the discharge report. He directed that the final challan be submitted in the court by October 27 and adjourned the hearing.
