Strict security measures were adopted to ensure the safety of the historical Muharram procession in Old Sukkur taken out on Monday. It is organised on Muharram 5. One of the organisers claimed. The procession starts from Lal Makan and passes through Jinnat Building, Shahi Bazaar, Masoomi Imambargah.
CCTV cameras were installed at various places to monitor the movement and walk-through gates were installed at all routes. No vehicle was allowed to pass through the road leading to Old Sukkur. The traffic was directed to pass through Bundar Road. All the streets leading to the route of the procession were sealed and even residents were not allowed to enter. Police parties deployed at different places were checking people.

This year, special security measures were adopted for the procession. Three DSPs, 15 inspectors, 22 sub-inspectors, 53 assistant sub inspectors, 75 head constables and 375 personnel were deployed along the route of the procession
