Constant vigilance: Security plan for Muharram finalised

Aerial surveillance of processions and majalis will use 39 drone cameras

As many as 75 companies of Pakistan Army and 12 companies of Punjab Rangers will be deployed to cope with emergencies during Muharram under the security plan finalised by the inspector general of police on Wednesday. It was decided that 148,052 policemen would be deployed for security of 9,148 processions and 36,057 majalis. Under the security plan, 1,541 CCTV cameras, 8,930 metal detectors and 123 walkthrough gates would be installed. Aerial surveillance of processions and majalis will use 39 drone cameras. It was decided that speeches delivered during the public gatherings would be recorded. In Lahore, 15 surveillance vans will be used for daily patrolling.
