Incomplete inquiry: ATC extends remand of Safoora attack suspects
The judge expresses displeasure over the snail-paced probe of the case

An anti-terrorism court extended on Friday the remand of three suspects allegedly involved in the Safoora Goth bus attack in police custody for 10 more days as investigators sought time to complete investigations.

The trio is accused of providing money and ammunitions to the gunmen who attacked the Ismaili community bus in Safoora Goth area on May 13 this year killing 45 people including 18 women. A total of eight suspects are currently held in connection with the attack. Based on the testimonies of the witnesses, they include the assailants who executed the massacre of the religious minority people.

The ATC-I allowed police to keep the custody of a top official of the Fishermen Cooperative Society, Sultan Qamar Siddiqi, his brother Hussain Omar Siddiqi and their mutual friend Naeem Sajid till October 25. Besides granting extension in remand, the judge expressed displeasure over the snail-paced probe of the case and directed the police to submit final investigation report of the case by the next hearing.
