Landslide tragedy: 13 victims laid to rest in Khanpur, Chak 5

Hundreds of residents of Chak 5 mourned with the family that had lost eight of its members in the landslide

The funeral prayers for 13 people who died in a landslide incident in Karachi on Tuesday were held in Chak 5, Head Rajkaan, and Khanpur on Wednesday.

Hundreds of residents of Chak 5 mourned with the family that had lost eight of its members in the landslide.


Funeral prayers were held for Muhammad Ayub, his wife Nasreen Bibi, and daughters Maria and Saira Bibi; Khursheed Ahmad, his wife Fatima, and his sons Azan and Azam. Muhammad Ayub and Khursheed Ahmad were first cousins.



Members of their families said that the two cousins and their families had moved to Karachi to earn a livelihood and support the rest of their family in the village.


The victims were buried in their ancestral graveyard in Head Rajkaan. Funerals were also held for five members of a family in Khanpur.


No political representative or government official had participated in the funerals.
