KARACHI: Foiling a terror bid in Karachi, the bomb disposal squad (BDS) defused on Sunday a bomb planted at the residence of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) official in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

Hidayat Masih, an MQM candidate for the upcoming local bodies’ election, called the police after finding suspicious material lying at his rooftop, which later turned out to be a bomb.

Police soon reached the site, evacuated the nearby houses and called the BDS.

SHO Gulsitan-e-Jauhar Javed Jalbani said the bomb was concealed in a bottle with two batteries were attached to it, and weighed around 500gms.

Further investigation is underway, added the SHO.
