The spokesman said two pistols and a motorbike had been seized
FAISALABAD:
Dijkot police claimed to have killed two robbers in a shootout on Friday.
A police spokesman said four armed men riding two motorbikes were mugging people near Samanabad when a police team was informed about it. He said police set up a picket near Samundri Road. He said when police signalled four men riding motorbikes to stop, they opened fire at them. Police chased the robbers to Jahangir Chowk where they shot at the police team posted at the picket there.
The men then drove towards Gojra, the spokesman said. He said a team led by Dijkot SHO Iram Raza Shah tried to stop them near Weehla Bridge but the robbers opened fire at the team. He said when police returned fire, two men were killed on the spot. He said their accomplices managed to escape. The spokesman said two pistols and a motorbike had been seized. He said the men were yet to be identified.
He said CPO Afzaal Ahmad Kausar had formed a team to arrest the suspects.
