Hot headed: Student killed in clash between rival groups

The injured student was shifted to teshil headquarters (THQ) hospital for treatment

A college student in his third year of studies was killed and another was injured in a clash between two groups of students at a private college in a Jaranwala police precinct on Tuesday. The Jaranwala SHO told The Express Tribune that the Rai Safdar Group (comprising mostly sophomores) and the Tahir Group (students of third year) had clashed at the college near 240 Mor. During the squabble, Rai Safdar, a resident of Syedwala Road, beat up Tahir, a resident of Chak 355-GB, Baggay Da Chak. Tahir succumbed to his injuries. The SHO said that Safdar had also thrashed Hussain Basra, another student, a resident of Chak 355-GB, when Basra tried to hold on to Safdar. On receipt of information, a police contingent rushed to the scene and seized the body. They sent it to a mortuary for post-mortem examination. The injured student was shifted to teshil headquarters (THQ) hospital for treatment. Following the incident, several students of the college staged a demonstration.
