Election rules: RO seeks removal of oversized banners
The order was issued in a petition filed by Barrister Amer Hasan, PPP candidate for NA-122
LAHORE:
The returning officer for NA-122 and PP 147 by-polls on Tuesday issued directions for immediate removal of oversized hoardings and banners of candidates. The order was issued in a petition filed by Barrister Amer Hasan, PPP candidate for NA-122. He had contended that PML-N and PTI candidates were violating the ECP code of conduct and an expense limit in place for the campaign. In their replies submitted with the RO on Tuesday, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Aleem Khan had dismissed the suggestion that they were violating any rule. They said oversized hoardings and banners bearing their photos might have been put up by their supporters. They said there was no rule preventing supporters of a candidate from doing so. However, they said they had asked their supporters to respect the ECP directives.
