Rising costs: Mills appeal for wheat quota

This ultimately resulted in an increase in the demand for flour

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Flour Mill Association (PFMA) asked the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government to release the quota for wheat to flour mills immediately as any further delay can result in increased prices in the open market. “The price of wheat is increasing by the day,” said Malik Iftikhar Ahmad Awan, provincial chairman of PFMA. He added, “In such a situation, the K-P government should release a wheat quota allotted for flour mills to prevent the increase in price of the flour.” According to Awan, poor security around the province led people to migrate closer to the city. This ultimately resulted in an increase in the demand for flour.
