Govt officials have been told to conduct seminars and rallies and to organise cleanliness drives at their offices
MULTAN:
Multan district has been declared high-risk for dengue fever, DCO Zahid Saleem Gondal said on Monday. He was speaking to field workers of the anti-dengue campaign and officials of the Health Department.
He told officials to constitute survey teams and identify locations where fumigation was required urgently. He directed the officials to observe an Anti-dengue Day to raise awareness about the issue.
Government officials have been told to conduct seminars and rallies and to organise cleanliness drives at their offices.
He told officers to contact the Special Branch to monitor the dengue field staff. He said officials found negligent in their duties would be dismissed.
Additional District Collector Dr Atta ur Rahman has been made the focal person for the anti-dengue drive. Rahman has been tasked with collaborating with all departments in this regard.
He said 500 locations in the city had been declared sensitive. The most dengue larvae were found in Sher Shah Town. The DCO berated Health officials for not taking timely action to eradicate dengue mosquitoes and larvae there.
Gondal said police officials would also be deployed with dengue staff so that nobody could refuse fumigation where it was needed. He said 52 mobile phones had been distributed among the dengue campaign staff so that they would be accessible at all times.
