DERA GHAZI KHAN:

A woman was in critical condition at Dera Ghazi Khan district headquarters hospital on Saturday after her husband allegedly beat and forced her to swallow ‘black stone’, a chemical used for hair dyeing. Muhammad Adil, her brother, told newsmen that Ruqayya had married Tariq, a resident of Jhok Utra, seven years ago. He said the couple had three children.

He said his sister and her brother-in-law had often quarrelled over money. He said when Ruqayya asked him to pay for household expenses, he beat her.  He said on Friday the couple had had another one of these arguments. He said later in the evening, Ruqayya had been found near their parents’ house. He said she was taken to the hospital where doctors had told them that she had been poisoned.  He said she was also badly bruised from a beating. He said his brother-in-law was missing. The RPO said an FIR had been registered.
