Run up to elections: PTI lawmaker booked for assaulting RO

The FIR was registered on the complaint of the RO, Tekam Das Harchandani

HYDERABAD:
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Lal Malhi has been booked, along with around 150 supporters and workers of the party, in an FIR over an alleged attack on the returning officer (RO) of Umerkot on Friday. The FIR was registered on the complaint of the RO, Tekam Das Harchandani, who alleged that Malhi, the PTI’s district organiser, Haji Asghar Pali and other persons ransacked his office and misbehaved with the staff. According to Malhi, they had gone to the office to complain against the rejection of nomination forms of several of their candidates during the scrutiny process, which concluded on Friday. He added that they also complained about DSP Iqbal Mangrio, whose vehicle ran over PTI supporters at the party’s protest at Teen Talwar chowk. “The RO is acting in political support of the Pakistan Peoples Party,” he alleged.
