Man fires on police for entering his house

A man was shot and killed by the police in an encounter in Sambrial city.

SAMBRIAL: A man was shot and killed by the police in an encounter in Sambrial city on Wednesday morning.

Muhallah Alley Wali resident Shabana Rafaqat lodged a complaint against her husband with the Sambrial Police on Tuesday, stating that her husband tortured her and he intended to kill her.

Two police constables Aamir Suhail and Muhammad Riaz went to Shabana’s house to resolve the issue. On seeing police constables at his house, Shabana’s husband opened fire, killing police constable Aamir Suhail and seriously injuring Muhammad Riaz.

The accused fled the scene, firing in the air.

Meanwhile, police officials received a tip off regarding Rafaqat’s location. Two teams of the Sambrial and Begowala police station began chasing after accused Rafaqat. Rafaqat was cornered outside Sambrial and was killed in an encounter after he opened fire on the police. Police have shifted the bodies of slain police constable Aamir Suhail and Rafaqat to the DHQ Hospital for autopsy.

Later, the deceased police constable was laid to rest in his native graveyard in the presence of hundreds of mourners. His funeral was held at Police Line Sialkot.

The injured police officials have been shifted to Mayo Hospital Lahore and both are reportedly in critical condition.

Sambrial police have registered a case and started investigation in this regard.
