LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed a reference against Irvah Hussain Shah, a former postmaster at the Bilal Town Office of the Post Office Department for misusing Rs3.2 million through fake accounts.

An investigation was authorised by the NAB against Hussain on a complaint filed by the Post Office Department. It was revealed that Pakistan Baitul Mal Department, under its Food Support Program, provided a list of 533 deserving people to the Post Office Department for payment of funds allocated by the Baitul Mal. Hussain, while posted as postmaster at the Bilal Town post office, misused his authority by opening and operating 981 fake accounts. He also misused receipts on account of the provincial taxes including arms’ licenses, driving licenses and motor vehicle taxes. After detail scrutiny of the record, NAB filed reference 33/2010 in the Accountability Court, Lahore.
