LAHORE:

The 12-year-old girl found dead outside Mayo Hospital in Lahore was killed and dumped by her father and brother for ‘not making gol roti’, police said on Wednesday.

The father and brother of the child had beaten her to death for not making the chapattis properly and to hide their crime they had dumped her body and filed case of kidnapping and murder, police said quoting confession of the accused.

The body of the deceased was found lying in the New Anarkali area. She was later identified as Aniqa Khalid. Her father, Khalid, had already filed a case with the police in Shadbagh that her daughter has been kidnapped.

SSP Investigation Rana Ayaz Saleem set a special team to find the perpetrators of the heinous crime. The police team took interviews of the victim’s neighbours and acting on the leads took the girl’s father and brother Abuzar for interrogation.

It did not take long for the culprits to confess that they had brutally thrashed little Aniqa over a matter as trivial as not making gol rotis. The accused told the police that they tried to hide their crime and dumped the body and filed a false case of kidnapping.

Meanwhile, Khalid’s neighbours told the police that he was in habit of beating his wife and children.
