Japanese Prize: Moneeza Hashmi honoured
She was director programmes at PTV when she retired in 2006

Media professional Moneeza Hashmi is among the three recipients of this year’s President of NHK Prize. The award is administered by Japan’s national public broadcaster, NHK, to honour outstanding contributions in the field of educational media. Hashmi, who is currently serving as the president of United Kingdom-based organisation Public Media Alliance (PMA), will receive the award at a ceremony at NHK Broadcasting Centre, Tokyo, on October 22. Hashmi had started her career with Pakistan Television (PTV) as an assistant producer in 1964. She was director programmes at PTV when she retired in 2006. Besides her association with the PMA, Hashmi is the International Relations general manager at a private television channel based in Pakistan. She also holds the Benazir Bhutto Chair for Peace and Reconciliation through Education at the Lahore College for Women University.
