Crossfire: Five killed, injured in Tank
Three police officials among deceased
DI KHAN:
At least five people, including three police officials, were killed while five others were injured in crossfire during a raid conducted on a house in Tank.
An official of Saddar police station told The Express Tribune, a raid was conducted at the house of Jamal, a former peace committee member, on Monday night.
“The deceased officials have been identified as Adnan, Qayum and Jahanzeb,” he said. “Asghar, Nasir, Rizwan and SHO Alamgir were injured.”
Jamal’s father, Bakhtak, and his brother, Afzal, were killed while his mother was injured.
The injured officials were shifted to District Headquarters and Teaching Hospital DI Khan. Meanwhile SHO Alamgir was rushed to Peshawar due to his critical condition.
Ajmal, Jamal’s brother, told The Express Tribune armed men had abducted his cousin, Rafiullah, and killed him a few days ago.
“It was later revealed that they belonged to Tehreek-e-Taliban,” said Ajmal.
An FIR has been registered at Saddar police station. Further investigation is under way.
The deceased officials were laid to rest on Tuesday and a large number of military officials and civilians attended their last rites.
