Dijkot police have taken into custody a teenager suspected of sexually assaulting a child in Chak 251. Muhammad Akram, the child’s uncle, told journalists on Monday that his seven-year-old nephew was playing in front of his house on Sunday when Aslam*, “a notorious loafer” who lived in the same locality, persuaded him to accompany him to the outskirts of the village.
He said that he took the child to some bushes near a sugarcane crop and molested him. Akram said his nephew started screaming for help and Aslam, fearing he would get caught, ran away. SHO Syed Iram Shah said they had received a complaint and had registered a case under Section 377 of Pakistan Penal Code (unnatural offence). Shah said they had constituted a team and had taken Aslam into custody. “We have asked the complainant to submit a medico-legal certificate so we can proceed according to law.”
