The Jamaat-e-Islami held a protest in front of the district press club and blocked the road between Peshawar and Chitral due to the failure to disclose PK 95’s by-election results.
JI’s District Deputy General Secretary Shafeeullah Khan and others slammed the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) failure to announce PK 95 (Jandool) by-election results despite the passage of five months.
Khan said JI’s contestant, Aizazul Mulk, was the established “champion of the public” and would have been the clear winner if results had been announced by now.
“Had the ECP executed its duties properly, all religious and political parties would not have been raising their voice against it, as is the case today.”
Khan warned that if Aizazul Mulk’s victory was not announced, the JI would start a long march to Islamabad and stage a protest in front of the ECP head office.
