Ban violation: 25 arrested for collecting hides

810 hides seized from camps

LAHORE: The district government arrested 25 members of banned outfits for collecting hides during Eid holidays. The district government had allowed 24 organisations to collect hides and set up camps for the purpose. Any other person or organisation was barred from collecting hides. Imran Maqbool, a spokesman for the Lahore DCO, said that city district government teams had launched a crackdown against illegal hide collection. “Our teams dismantled two dozen camps and seized 810 hides,” he said.

Faisalabad

The Faisalabad district police and the Counter Terrorism Department arrested 14 people for collecting hides without DCO’s permission.

A police spokesman said that they had arrested Wakeel, a resident of Khushab; Muhammad Abid, a resident of Ghafoorabad; Muhammad Anas, a resident of Shah Burhan locality; Yaseen, a resident of Puran Palad; Sanaullah, a resident of Gulistan Colony; Mubeen, a resident of Chak 91 Sargodha; Muhammad Hassan, a resident of Fatehabad; Tahir, a resident of Chah Totianwala locality; Khaleel, a resident of Kamangaran locality; Ashraf, a resident of Chah Natheywala locality; Adnan, a resident of Ghafoorabad locality; Adeel, a resident of Dil Khushab locality; Zahid, a resident of Qadirabad locality; and Hafeez, a resident of Fatehabad locality. He said that Zahid and Abdul Hafeez were collecting hides for Jamatud Dawa. The rest were collecting hides for various seminaries.
