Outdoors: Harno park abuzz with tourists during holidays
Various rides and facilities make it an attraction for many
ABBOTABAD:
Many who were heading to picnic spots in Hazara Division during Eidul Azha chose to stop off at Harno Park in Abbottabad, ensuring the place was abuzz with people. Its recreational facilities and accessibility were a major drawing factor for tourists.
“We had heard about this place and decided to enjoy the rides before heading to Ayubia,” Nawazish Malik, a businessman from Islamabad told The Express Tribune. “The park is a great addition and children can enjoy facilities usually not found in Murree.”
Nawazish suggested the management invest more in the park as it is “a great place to break the tiring routine of daily life”.

There are not only rides to enthral visitors, but other activities such as boating. Romana Chowdhry, who was enjoying the boat ride with her children, echoed Nawazish’s views and asked for more facilities so that youngsters could enjoy the park.
When approached for comments, Mehdi Bangash, an official of Jodat Company which constructed the park, said it was packed with over 20,000 visitors on the second day of Eid. “Within a couple of months, a pheasantry and a zoo would be set up.” He added that also plan to add games such as paintball and dodgem cars, apart from activities such as swimming.
Bangash said there are some elements who are against the idea of the park and create problems for the staff and management. However, the matter has been brought to the notice of the local administration.
Harno Park is some 15 minutes from Abbottabad city on Murree Road and was established a couple of years ago. It was built on the left bank of Daur River in Harno village. The management has arranged for activities like boating in a small artificial lake.
Moreover, parts of other areas such as Ayubia, Nathiagali, Kaghan valley and Khanpur Dam area were also packed with tourists.
