In vacation mode: Govt offices remain deserted near Eid
It is common for staffers to go a day or two before Eid
PESHAWAR:
Though Eid holidays will begin from September 24 (today), most government officials have already packed up their bags and left for their homes in their native towns. The Civil Secretariat, which is the hub of government machinery and government offices, wore a deserted look as a majority of its employees remained absent from their duties on Wednesday.
A staff member told The Express Tribune only the locals came to work on Wednesday. Muhammad Ali, an official at the irrigation department, said employees belonging to remote areas and other districts left to celebrate Eidul Azha with their relatives.
“It is common for staffers to go a day or two before Eid. That way, they are able to beat the rush near these days,” he said.
Meanwhile, Peshawar Electric Supply Company has set up a crisis-management cell at Wapda House in the city to address complaints of load-shedding.
Chief Engineer Muhammad Iqbal Marwat will supervise the cell. Consumers can contact on 091-9212523.
