Uplift projects costing Rs325m approved

Two institutes, one for children with a hearing disability and the other for mentally disabled children, and two basic health units in rural areas are among other projects approved at a meeting of the Divisional Development Working Party (DDWP) on Wednesday.


The meeting was supervised by Bahawalpur Division Commissioner Saqib Zafar.  The DDWP has approved of several projects worth Rs325 million.

The institute for children with hearing disabilities will be set up at a cost of Rs6.75 million. The institute for mentally-disabled children will be constructed in Chak 10-BC and will be named Shadaab Training Institute. This project will cost Rs100 million.

The basic health units will be constructed in Chak 24-BC and Chak 59-DB at a total cost of Rs107 million. Other projects approved at the meeting include a road repair and widening project from Rahim Yar Khan’s 87 Bank Chowk to Ada Gulshan Fareed. The project will be overseen by the Cholistan Development Authority and the estimated budget for it is Rs60 million. The commissioner issued directions for these projects to be completed on fast-track basis.
