Back to school: MoU to rehabilitate 400 schools in flood zones

MoU signed to rehabilitate 400 affected schools in riverine areas of Layyah, Muzaffargarh and Rajanpur districts.

LAHORE: The Plan Pakistan and Punjab School Education Department (PED) have agreed to provide adequate financial, human resource and material support to rehabilitate 400 affected primary schools in riverine areas of Layyah, Muzaffargarh and Rajanpur districts.

Punjab School Education Department secretary Aslam Kamboh and Plan Pakistan country director Haider W Yaqub signed an MOU in this regard at the Civil Secretariat on Tuesday.

The project shall be implemented through a joint effort of the Punjab government through the Schools secretary and his nominated representatives at the provincial level and through the executive district officers (Education) at the district level. The overall objective of the project is to realize children’s rights regarding education and ensure that children are back in school after the floods. As many as 58,500 male and female students of these schools will benefit from the project.
