Research: Leather sector conference on December 29

UVAS Lahore, is organising a conference, Pakistan’s Leather Sector Challenges & Opportunities at its Conference Hall.

LAHORE:
The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore, is organising a national conference, Pakistan’s Leather Sector Challenges & Opportunities at its Conference Hall on December 29.


The national conference is sponsored by the Higher Education Commission and organised by faculty of animal production and technology dean Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha. The objective of the conference is to highlight issues related to leather industry. The leather industry is the second largest export earning and manufacturing sector of Pakistan after textile. Pakistan stands at 15th position in the world in leather production, fourth in leather garments, second in leather gloves and 36th in leather footwear. The leather and leather made-ups industry play a significant role in the economy of Pakistan and its share in GDP is 4 per cent. Punjab agriculture and livestock minister Malik Ahmad Ali Aulakh will be the chief guest while UVAS vice chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Nawaz will preside over the inaugural session.
