PESHAWAR:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Peshawar district chapter terminated the party membership of an MPA’s wife along with nine other councillors of Town-III for violating party discipline. All of them failed to turn up to vote in the nazim and naib nazim elections on August 30.

K-P PTI Organiser Fazal Muhammad Khan sent the names of several Town-III councillors to the central leadership to take action against their violations of party discipline. The party members were absent for the election process.

PTI Peshawar President Arbab Nisar Khan confirmed Special Assistant to K-P CM for Law Arif Yousaf’s wife, Noreen, as well as his close relatives Somiya Baloch and Samina Gul did not take part in the electoral process. Others who were absent included Malik Wajid, Dawood Barki, Faiza Bakhash and Waqar Javed.

“PTI Chairman Imran Khan issued strict orders to the provincial organiser to take action against those councillors who did not vote for the party candidate at the district, town and tehsil levels,” said Nisar.

He said aspiring nazim and naib nazim candidates from PTI, Younas Zahir and Arbab Iftikhar, were present in the council hall on Election Day. However, it could not be determined whether they voted for Syed Qasim Ali Shah or not.

Zahir told The Express Tribune he cast his vote in the elections for nazim and naib nazim. He also appreciated the step of the party leadership to cancel the membership of those who failed to turn up.
