Unrelenting: PFA’s crackdown on famous eating spots continues
PFA’s Data Gunj Buksh Town team sealed Shalimar Restaurant for having unhygienic conditions

The Punjab Food Authority’s Gulberg Town team on Monday sealed Bashir Darul Mahi at Hussain Chowk for having improper storage facilities for food. Also, its workers did not have requisite medical certificates.
PFA’s Data Gunj Buksh Town team sealed Shalimar Restaurant for having unhygienic conditions, poor hygiene of personnel and dirty freezers.
They said the floor of the restaurant was strewn with food. They said the restaurant’s management could not provide traceability of meat. The washroom opened into the kitchen and the workers were smoking while cooking the food. They said blood had also pooled into the freezers.
PFA officials also sealed Cock N Bull in Race Course area, for using sub-standard oil which was stored in a rusty tin and had black particles floating in it. The restaurant managers could not tell the team where they had bought the oil from.
The team said they had found expired and unlabelled sauces and mayonnaise from the restaurant.
The authority’s Ravi Town team sealed Chaman Murabba Factory for poor hygiene of personnel and premises. The sanitation conditions of the factory were very poor and workers there did not have medical certificates. PFA’s Samanabad Town team fined Doce Bakery in Gulshan-i-Ravi. They said they had found flies in the sweets tray and dustbins. Lizard excreta and rat droppings were also found on food products and expired tikka boti was seized from the shop.
The authority also penalised Lasani Burger and Chick Factory on Shalimar Link Road for poor hygiene of personnel and premises and non-compliance of food regulations.
