RAWALPINDI: The city’s Solid Waste Management Company (SWMC) has deployed more than 4,000 sanitary workers to collect and dispose of waste material from sacrificial animals during Eidul Azha. A comprehensive cleanliness contingency plan has been prepared for the forthcoming festivities, the company said on Sunday. SWMC Managing Director Irfan Qurashi said leaves of sanitary staff have been cancelled in a bid to keep the city clean. He said that 200 vehicles would be operational to collect garbage from each house, adding that action will be taken against those found negligent in this regard. He urged the public to cooperate with staff and to not dump sacrificial remains on the streets or in streams. He said 130 collection points had been set up to collect animal remains.
