Need of the hour: Sherpao demands NAP implementation
Nation will stand by security forces to stem the roots of militancy from our soil and avert such incidents in future
PESHAWAR:
QWP Chairman Aftab Ahmad Sherpao said the National Action Plan (NAP) should be implemented to prevent incidents such as the attack on Pakistan Air Force (PAF) base camp in Badhaber from reoccurring. According to a statement issued from Watan Kor, the party’s central secretariat, on Sunday, Sherpao termed the attack on the base camp as the second deadliest terror incident after the Army Public School massacre in December 2014. “The entire nation is in a state of anger and tension over the loss of lives in the recent attack,” he said. “The nation will stand by the security forces to stem the roots of militancy from our soil and avert such incidents in future.” Sherpao added the Pakistan Army has played a significant role in the fight against militancy. “Most of these terrorist attacks have come to pass, owing to a lack of coordination among intelligence agencies. All security agencies should establish a mechanism of timely and effective coordination.” According to the QWP leader, the lack of interest shown by the federal and provincial governments has resulted in acts of terror becoming rampant in the country.
