A man was injured when militants fired a missile in Chaharmang area of Bajaur Agency on Saturday. Insiders told The Express Tribune the  attack was launched from Kunar province in Afghanistan. The injured has been identified as Amir Jan.



Earlier, a series of missiles were fired from an undisclosed location along the Charsadda-Mohmand border. Speaking to The Express Tribune, Ijaz Khan, a police official said the incident took place at 1am.  “A missile landed on the house of Abdul Waheed about 100 yards away from Khwaja Vas police station,” he said. “It fell on a wall of the house but failed to explode. The bomb disposal unit (BDU) officials managed to defuse it.”

According to Waheed, he was sleeping when the missile struck his house. “The police have not been able to confirm where the missile was fired from and who it was targeted at,” he added. Another missile landed on a house in Matta Mughal Khel. An insider said the house belonged to Zahid Khan and was approximately 500 yards away from a Frontier Constabulary centre. “A loud blast was heard in the area and Zahid’s house was damaged,” he said. “However, no casualties have been reported.”

Meanwhile, locals told The Express Tribune another missile “veered off course” and plunged into Swat River near Katozai. However, police have yet to confirm whether the third missile was fired. Following the incident, police officials visited the area and conducted a search operation. However, no arrests were made till the filing of this report.
