Save the hassle of cleaning your house, go to CBC camps for sacrifice
Sacrificial camps will be set up in nine different areas in DHA on the first and second day of Eid
KARACHI:
If you live in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) and don't want to get your gardens and porches messy with animal blood and meat, you can now opt for Cantonment Board Clifton's (CBC) sacrificial camps this Eidul Azha.
On the first and second day of Eid, the camps will be established at nine different areas of DHA, to provide space for people to come and perform sacrifices of their animals. "The camps are being established for the last three to four years," said CBC vice-president Aziz Suharwardy. "It helps to keep the localities clean and hygienic."

From Phase I to Phase VIII, the camps will be set up on empty plots in DHA. However, they will only provide space for the religious obligation and people will have to bring in their own butchers. "In the first year when we had set up the camp, we provided butchers but people wanted to bring in their own and there were issues on the rates," said the CBC official. "Then we stopped providing the service."
The camps will provide chatai (mats), pole posts, drinking water and other facilities free of charge and will be operational after Eid Namaz. The offal and other refuse of the animals will be collected and disposed of by the authorities.

While residents are allowed to perform the sacrifice in their homes, the CBC has prohibited sacrificing of animals in the open or on the roads. According to the CBC, strict action will be taken against culprits and they will be penalised under the Cantonments Act, 1924 (II of 1924).
