
Police, accompanied by personnel of the counter-terrorism department, intelligence agencies, bomb disposal unit, elite force and policewomen, searched the entire prison. They rifled through barracks of some high profile militants.

“It was a routine operation and the army also took part. We undertake such operations after every few months; there was no known threat,” a police official told The Express Tribune.
When asked if they recovered anything in particular, the official said some memory cards were confiscated and are being thoroughly examined.
The suggestion to enhance security and other measures falls into the ambit of SSP Operations.
The central jail and its surrounding buildings such as Peshawar High Court, the Judicial Academy and Governor House are all considered sensitive locations.
Some high-profile detainees, including Dr Shakil Afridi and Tehreek-e-Nifaz-e-Shariat Mohammadi head Maulana Sufi Muhammad, are being held at the prison.
