Jamaat-e-Islami’s Upper Dir chapter has flayed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf for supporting the former’s rival candidate in the PK-93 by-elections.
Speaking at a news conference on Thursday, PK-93’s losing candidate Malik Azam Khan said PTI had failed to fulfil their commitment. JI K-P Naib Ameer Maulana Asadullah, MNA Sahibzada Yaqoob and former MPA Malik Behram Khan were also present at the conference.
“PTI vowed to support JI’s candidate in the by-elections,” he said. “This is the second time PTI has not supported JI in the by-elections.”
According to Azam, the ruling party in K-P had done something similar in PK-95, Lower Dir.
“These practices must be brought to the attention of PTI’s central leadership,” he said. “I strongly urge the party to take notice of such separatist elements.”
Speaking on the occasion, Asadullah said PTI district leaders – including former Khar tehsil president and former Warri tehsil president – had thrown their weight behind JI’s rival candidate.
“PTI’s local representatives have violated the provincial leadership’s decision and openly supported JI’s rivals,” he said.
