Singer Shahvaar Ali Khan’s son passes away

Shahvaar Ali Khan, who shot to fame with his song Filmein Shilmain that was also featured in Bollywood film Desi Boyz, lost his son on Wednesday night. A month-old Sher Khan Azad succumbed to a lung disease. He was born premature and contracted the infection right after birth.
“He was a real survivor who fought hard till the end,” Shahvaar told The Express Tribune. Excited about his child being born in the same month as Independence Day, Shahvaar had shared the lyrics of Sohni Dharti along with the newborn’s picture last month and was optimistic about his recovery. “Although he had a premature birth, his energy, activity and strength were a lot more than those of normal kids. Doctors were amazed at his ability to bounce back but the end was unfortunate,” added Shahvaar.
He had named him Azad not only because he was born in August but also because of his penchant for the poet Jagan Nath Azad. A few years ago, Shahvaar had also composed Jagnath Azad’s Azad Ki Dua and received acclaim for bringing to the fore the oft-ignored piece of poetry.
Prior to that, Shahvaar had also released an Indo-Pak piece anthem, the opening lines of which were written by veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar. The anthem was titled No Saazish No Jung and its video was shot by famed cinematographer Ravi K Channdran, the visionary behind Bollywood films, such as Virasat, Dil Chahta Hai, Fanaa, Ghajini and My Name Is Khan. Shahvaar later ventured into advertising with his company Farigh Four and recently started acting for television.
