Talks with MQM: JUI-F can do no more, Fazl tells Nawaz
Says it’s up to the premier now to convince MQM

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) has done all it could to persuade the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) to return to the negotiating table, Maulana Fazlur Rehman told Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday.
“The ball is in the government’s court now; it is up to them to resolve the issue and convince MQM lawmakers to take back their resignations through strong dialogue,” the JUI-F chief was quoted as saying in his meeting with the premier.
Sharing the details of the meeting with The Express Tribune, the Sindh information secretary of JUI-F, Muhammad Aslam Ghauri, said Maulana Fazl told Prime Minister Nawaz that his party’s role in negotiations with the MQM has come to an end.
“We [JUI-F] were asked to bring both sides to the negotiating table, not to resolve the issue. We cannot direct either side to do this and that,” Ghauri quoted Fazl as saying.
The JUI-F information secretary said Fazl called a meeting of his party recently where participants agreed that the prime minister should now tackle the MQM issue on his own.
When contacted, Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid said, “As far as I know, JUI-F did their task well.”
“Maulana Fazlur Rehman brought them [MQM] to the negotiating table. That was all he was asked to do,” he added.
