Gold smuggling: Forensic expert held for misusing case property
FIA Punjab arrests a forensic expert of the National Response Centre for Cyber Crimes for misusing case property.
LAHORE:
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Punjab on Monday arrested a forensic expert (FE) of the National Response Centre for Cyber Crimes (NR3C) for misusing a case property, Operation Gold, in which the FIA had recovered gold weighing more than 38 kilogramme from the accused Imran Nawaz, when he tried to smuggle it to Dubai with the connivance of some Customs’ officials.
The FIA, on May 1, 2010, had unearthed smuggling of gold and arrested a few culprits involved in the case. The FIA investigators also recovered three mobile phones from the arrested as case property and handed over these mobile phones to a Punjab FIA forensic expert, Rizwan Sabir, for a forensic report by the Investigation Officer. Rizwan Sabir of the NR-3C returned two mobile phones to the investigators while misused the third one.
