finishing first: Charsadda gets budget approved
Rs4,405 million was approved, out of which Rs4,213.5 million was allocated for salaries of 14 government departments
CHARSADDA:
Charsadda is the first district to have its budget approved for the year 2015-16.
At a conference held in the district on Tuesday, an amount of Rs4,405 million was approved, out of which Rs4,213.5 million was allocated for salaries of 14 departments of the local government while Rs191.7 million has been assigned for other expenses.
However, opposition leader Qasim Ali of Awami National Party was not pleased with the arrangements at the conference.
Moreover, the handouts at the conference were printed in English although there were instructions from the Supreme Court that the budget should be written and published in Urdu. The outsiders had occupied the seats of members and journalists hence the latter had to keep standing throughout the proceedings.
However, district nazim Fahad Riaz Khan apologised for the mismanagement and appealed the members present at the conference to pass the budget.
