cheating the public: AWKUM VC arrested

Shah granted affiliation to NIMS, Abbottabad under a mandate not provided by KMU Act 2006

NAB Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa arrested Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan Vice Chancellor Dr Ihsan Ali, former Hazara University VC Dr Syed Sakhawat Shah, NIMS, Abbottabad Chairman Dr Muhammad Aziz Khan and former Higher Education Regulatory Authority Chairman Hamayun Zia on charges of corruption. According to a handout issued on Tuesday, the aforementioned allegedly cheated the public at large by luring students to get admissions in an illegal and unregistered medical institution, stripping people of more than Rs550 million. During the course of the enquiry, it was revealed that Ali, who is also a former HU VC, and Shah granted affiliation to NIMS, Abbottabad under a mandate not provided by KMU Act 2006.
