KARACHI:

Legal proceedings remained suspended at the City Courts on the second consecutive day, on Monday, as the lawyers continued their boycott to seek withdrawal of case against their colleague.

Members of the Karachi Bar Association took part in a protest and marched on MA Jinnah Road. The protesters demanded the withdrawal of the terrorism case against Advocate Salman Naeem.

Naeem was booked by the City Courts police for allegedly physically maltreating a judicial officer on the complaint of the civil judge, Imam Zaidi.

Meanwhile, the legal proceedings were conducted at the Supreme Court Karachi Registry and the Sindh High Court in the city. Hundreds of cases could not be taken up at the subordinate courts due to the boycott. Earlier, the legal fraternity had also staged a two-day protest on September 5 and September 7 to condemn the killing of their colleague, Syed Amir Haider Shah.
