Promoting hygiene: Workshop for restaurant staff from Wednesday

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration would hold a workshop for managers and owners of hotels and restaurants in an effort to educate them about ‘best hygiene practices’.
The three-day workshop, which starts at the CDA Academy on September 16, would also raise managers’ awareness of local and international food and hygiene regulations.
Hotel and restaurant owners have been protesting against administration for punishing them for “poor hygiene standards” without clarifying what the standards and regulations are. Since the past five days, a number of eateries in the capital have been fined or sealed.
The workshop aims to bridge this gap. On the first day, training would be imparted about food quality.
On the second day, the focus will be the safety measures for workers and customers while on the third day hotels and restaurants staff would be trained about the hygiene standards.
CDA and ICT health and municipal officials will also attend the workshop.
